Putnum Residence

The Putnam home site is situated along a seasonal creek and takes cues from heavy timber barns and agricultural buildings in the Willamette Valley. The long house plan organizes a series of spaces along a heavy timber prefabricated spine of Japanese Joinery. A porte cochere and main entry axis cuts through the center of the home with doors and double height windows with through house views from the entrance to evergreen trees at the edge of the creek.  Stone excavated on site, locally harvested Douglas Fir timbers, locally milled Douglas fir windows, doors, flooring, and cabinets, and the sweeping umbrella roofs firmly anchor the home in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
