TAIPAI CITY

Challenge: Environmentally Friendly

The sweeping glass canopy follows the path of the sun.  Below the smooth surface of the building is heated by the sun throughout the day. The warm air rises by the chimney effect and is compressed increasing the velocity to turn energy generation turbines.  The moving air creates a draw that pulls exhaust air from the building to reduce the energy required for the mechanical systems.  The form also scoops the prevailing winds up and into the turbines.  The Chimney effect is celebrated with an open-air sculpture garden centered below the fresh air chimney.
