Church Street Residential Development

SAN FRANCISCO, CA

Exterior Face Lift,
Seismic Upgrades and
Interior Remodel

The existing apartment building was the ugly duckling on the block and by zoning decree had to be converted from a residential hotel into a 3-unit apartment building.  The task at hand was to remodel the apartments and to create new facades on three sides.  Strategic demolitions freed up the interior with an open-air courtyard and for the first time in the building’s history, a code compliant emergency exit stair. The lattice at the front façade hints at the new open-air entry that pulls breezes through the building and connects the covered entry stairs to the interior court and back gardens.
