HOME HOUSE PROJECT – HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
WINSTON SALEM, NC
Competition: SECCA International Design Invitational
Winning Entry: Jeff Alan Gard
This modern single family home is a prototype for habitat for humanity.
The habitat for humanity team arrives to a site shaded by graceful canopies. The canopies are factory built waterproofed, insulated, delivered, and installed. Protected from rain and shaded from the sun the simple task of tilting up the non-bearing partition walls begins.
Active solar systems are utilized for both hot water and radiant floor heat while reflecting pools serve as evaporative cooling systems during the summer months. The efficient design, and a modular construction system minimize waste and greatly reduce the environmental impact of the home.
