SMALL LOTS BIG IDEAS COMPETITION
NEW YORK, NY
Mayor De Blasio through a program called “Small Lots Big Ideas”, asked architects to propose mass production inspired options for undersized parcels around New York and the surrounding Burroughs. The program called upon architects to add much needed housing on small, narrow and other difficult to build city owned parcels. This case study proposes a kit of parts, comprised of Prefabricated Concrete foundation components, modular windows, door, stairs and Cross Laminated Timber slabs. The 3 story 4-unit building includes ample open space and a cooperative workspace and kitchen on a tight 16′ wide parcel.
